Laura Graham Holmes, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College, City University of New York.
Dr. Graham Holmes’ research agenda is developing peer-facilitated interventions for autistic adults in partnership with autistic people and focused on community priorities such as healthy relationships, substance use disorder, and LGBTQIA+ health. She received a career development award from the National Institute of Mental Health to develop a minority stress intervention for autistic LGBTQIA+ people.
Her research has shown that this group is at heightened risk for suicidality. Dr. Carla Mezefsky is a mentor on the project and will contribute to training on data and safety monitoring for populations at heightened risk for suicide who participate in clinical trials.
Dr. Graham Holmes holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah and completed her clinical internship and postdoc at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a fellow in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. She completed additional research fellowships on autism and public health at the A. J. Drexel Autism Institute and the Boston University School of Public Health.
Dr. Graham Holmes has eight years of clinical experience and has the pleasure of instructing MSW students about developmental disabilities using disability justice and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.
