About Our Program
The REAACT program is part of the Center for Excellence in Autism Research (CeFAR), founded by Nancy J. Minshew, MD, and now directed by Carla Mazefsky, PhD. The REAACT Program is located within the world class Psychiatry Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Our team also includes investigators from other University of Pittsburgh departments as well as several external consultants and collaborators.
We aim to conduct research that will ultimately improve mental health and well-being for autistic people across the lifespan. We focus on identifying the mechanisms of emotion dysregulation in autistic people, developing measures of meaningful outcomes, developing community-informed, innovative treatments, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and raising cultural acceptance of autism.
