Jessie B. Northrup, Ph.D.

Dr. Northrup is a Clinical and Developmental Psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her predoctoral clinical internship and postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh’s Western Psychiatric Hospital. Dr. Northrup’s research is broadly focused on early social and emotional development in young children on the autism spectrum. Much of her work is centered on understanding the role of parent-child interactions in early development, and how these interactions may be different for young autistic children and their families. Dr. Northrup is the PI of the Managing Everyday Emotions Together (MEET) study, which examines parent-child dynamics around emotion regulation in preschoolers with and without autism. She also contributes to the ACE Dissemination & Partnership Core. Outside of work, Dr. Northrup is busy with her own two young children who love to challenge her emotion regulation skills every day!
